OMG Oh My God is an 2012 Bollywood comedy drama film directed by Umesh Shukla, and produced by Akshay Kumar. The film features Mithun Chakraborty and Paresh Rawal in lead roles, with Akshay Kumar in a cameo role.OMG Oh My God is Akshay's 116th film. It is adapted from a highly acclaimed Gujrati play named "Kanji Virrudh Kanji". It also includes influences of Paresh Rawal's Hindi play "Krishan vs Kanhaiya". The film is scheduled to release on 28 September 2012

Production

Producer Akshay Kumar announced the film in 2012. When the promos of the movie were released at first, people heard actor Salman Khan's voice and assumed that he was playing a role in the movie or maybe he was the narrator. Later, the director Umesh Shukla went on to clarify that Salman's voice was only being used in the promos of the movie. The director was quoted telling IANS, "He (Salman) will not be narrating in the film. He has that notorious voice. My film is a light-hearted comedy and we need someone who can do justice to the visuals."
Later, it was confirmed that Kumar's close friend Paresh Rawal who appeared in the original play Kishen vs Kanhaiya was playing the lead role with Akshay himself playing the role of Krishna in the movie. Shahrukh Khan was also expected to play a supporting role in the film, but later opted out of the project, and the role was given to Mithun Chakraborty. The filming was reported to have begun in January 2012. Also, director Prabhu Deva, who earlier directed Kumar's Rowdy Rathore, has been roped in to appear in a item-number along with Sonakshi Sinha. According to reports, producer Akshay Kumar will be doing a brief cameo in the film and will be seen riding a specially designed bike for the movie theme, worth Rs.1 million..The movie also marks the debut of popular Kannada actress Nidhi Subbaiah into Bollywood.

Plot

The 'Inspired' remake is based on the life of Kanjibhai (Paresh Rawal), an antique shopkeeper. When a tornado destroys his antique store, he begins to disbelieve in God. The film revolves around his journey at taking down God which he is unable to do, but clearly doesn't realize, and soon begins to fight all the priests of the city, which starts mayhem until Lord Krishna (Akshay Kumar) pays Kanji an unexpected visit. It is loosely based on the Gujarati play, Kanji Virrudh Kanji and also Hindi play, Kishen vs Kanhaiya. Story also resonates on the lines of The Man Who Sued God a 2001 Australian film, starring Billy Connolly and directed by Mark Joffe

Soundtrack

The soundtrack of the film is composed by Himesh Reshammiya,Sachin-Jigar and Meet Bros Anjaan, whilst the lyrics have been penned by Shabbir Ahmed,Kumaar,Swanand Kirkire and Subrat Sinha. The first song from the album, "Go Govinda" was released on 9th August 2012 worldwide in CD's available in stores and online,sung by Aman Triikha and Shreya Ghoshal. The rest of the songs, along with the full soundtrack released on 21th August 2012.

Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal is an upcoming Hindi comedy film directed by Priyadarshan. It stars Nana Patekar, Shreyas Talpade and Paresh Rawal. The film is being and produced by Percept Picture Company. It is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster film Marykkundoru Kunjaadu, story which was written by Benny P. Nayarambalam. It is likely to release on 28 September 2012.

Synopsis

It is the remake of of a popular malayalam film of Dileep called Marykkundoru Kunjaadu - That's the insinuating cry of every man, woman and child in this village when they see Johnny Belinda (Shreyas Talpade). Afraid of everything and everyone, Johnny is one terrified soul. Born into the household of Om Puri, a local farmer and being the only son, Johnny does what he's best at to help his ailing father. Nothing, other than buying lottery tickets every week. The only thing going in his life, is his love for Maria (Madhurima) the daughter of the village's biggest gunda and sworn enemy of Om Puri. Paresh Rawal, Armed with two herculean sons, goes to all ends to make sure his daughter and Johnny never marry, until one day, hope comes in the form a silent, strong but very hungry man, Nana Patekar. What happens next is a complete dhamaal of fun, action and drama resulting in one very Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal.

 Controversy

Catholic organizations in India have protested the film as blasphemous and offensive. The Goan Catholic Welfare Union threatened to disallow the screening in their state. Shailendra Singh of Percept Picture Company has said the film is in fact clean and that he respects the sentiments of Catholics.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack will be composed by Sajid Wajid, with lyrics penned by Jalees Shewani. The album consists of six songs. The audio rights of the film were acquired by T-Series. The album was launched on 13 September 2012 at Mumbai.

Heroine  is an upcoming Indian film directed, written, and co-produced by Madhur Bhandarkar. Revolving around the life of a once successful film actress, Mahi Arora, whose career is on the decline, the film features Kareena Kapoor as the protagonist along with actors Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Rakesh Bapat. Additionally, the project also stars Shahana Goswami, Divya Dutta, Helen, Shillpi Sharma, Mugdha Godse and Lillete Dubey in supporting roles. Production

Development

Following the completion of his film, Jail (2009), Bhandarkar began toying with the idea of making a project on the film industry. Along with writer Niranjan Iyengar, the director began developing the story about the life of an actress and later approached UTV Motion Pictures with whom he had worked on several occasions. Bhandarkar, who was keen on using the title Heroine for his film, donated 1 lakh (US$1,800) to Guddu Dhanoa's charity. He later explained that he had been subconsciously preparing for the movie ever since he joined the industry.
Pre-production work on the film was expected to commence during the summer of 2010 but was put on hold due to Kapoor being busy with other commitments. During this period, Bhandarkar announced that he would be making another project while putting Heroine on hold. Though speculated to be based on the lives of yesteryear divas like Madhubala and Marilyn Monroe, Bhandarkar denied the reports saying that the movie is a "contemporary film which reveals the underbelly of the movie industry and its well-kept secrets". In an attempt to prepare his protagonist for the film, the director prepared a three-hour documentary on Hollywood actresses Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Vivien Leigh. Designer Manish Malhotra was signed on to design the costumes.

Filming

Production for the film was marred by the kidnapping and brutal murder of Meenakshi Thapar by a co-star, Amit Jaiswal, who like Thapar, only had a minor role in the film. Thapar was strangled in her hotel room in Gorakhpur and her body dumped into a water tank and head decapitated and thrown out of the window of a moving bus.

Music

It was announced that music director duo Salim-Sulaiman, who had earlier worked with Madhur Bhandarkar in his critically acclaimed movie Fashion, will be composing the songs for Heroine.
During the shooting of the film, Bhandarkar revealed that there would be two big item numbers in the film, both to be picturized on the leading lady. One of them being called "Halkat Jawani". Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan is scheduled as a single track release on August 17, 2012. Musicperk.com rated the album 7/10 quoting "Although songs like Halkat Jawani, Khwahishein and Tujhpe fida sound nice and enthusiastic as independent tracks, others probably would need to rely on the picturisation of the song for the required effect to be created"

Critical Reception

Upon release, Heroine received mixed to negative reviews from film critics in India.Shomini Sen of Zee News gave it a score of 3 out of 5 and said "Does ‘Heroine’ work? Yes, but only because of Kareena Kapoor. From doing the raunchy act in ‘Halkat Jawaani’ to the scenes where she is battling depression and popping pills,Kareena makes Mahi memorable and lovable.Heroine’ is absolutely Kareena’s film, not Madhur’s.Two for the film and one extra for Bebo. Three cheers for the film! ".Kanika Sikka of DNA gave Heroine 3 out 5 while commenting "Heroine is nothing more than a typical Madhur Bhandarkar film.If you are a Madhur Bhandarkar fan, I would recommend you skip this one. One, it may be disappointing; two, you’ve seen all this before. If you are a Kareena Kapoor fan, it’s a treat".Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV rated it 2 out of 5 noting "The film that Bhandarkar has made is indeed disappointingly mechanical. Mercifully, Kareena does demonstrate that she has a feel for the character. But, then, why wouldn’t she? After all she plays herself in Heroine".

Sukanya Verma of Rediff.com gave it 2 out of 5 remarking "There's nothing innovative about Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroin.I am not sure if this is Bhandakar's idea of comic relief but the hall roared with laughter.What's not funny is just how stunning Kareena Kapoor looks or gives to her role as Mahi Arora". Independent Bollywood gave it 2 out of 5 and said "It’s only Kareena Kapoor who saves the film. Page 3, Fashion and Jigyaasa rolled into one". Roshni Devi of koimoi gave the film 1.5 out 5 reviewing "Heroine movie irritates more than entertains, but some of the performances are nice.Kareena Kapoor does a good job and, heck, you even get to see her in a pseudo lesbian scene along with other steamy scenes. If that’s enough to drag you to see Heroine, go ahead. Give it a miss.

English Vinglish is a 2012 Indian drama film directed by Gauri Shinde and produced byR. Balki. The film marks the comeback of Sridevi after a 14-year sabbatical. The film also features French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain, and Priya Anand. Amitabh Bachchan makes a guest appearance in the Hindi version of the film, while Ajith Kumarcomes in for the same role in the Tamil version. This film also marks the comeback of Sridevi to Tamil cinema after 26 years. Sridevi plays the central role of a Pune-based Maharashtrian housewife Shashi Godbole , who enrols for an English language course in order to please her husband and family^. Shinde wanted her characters to be rooted and so they decided that the family will be Marathi, which is why the film was shot in Pune. Sridevi's character is inspired from Gauri's mother.

English Vinglish will be dubbed into Telugu Tamil and will release simultaneously along with the Hindi versions. English Vinglish is all set to hit the screens on 5 October 2012.

Before its official worldwide release, English Vinglish had a gala premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival on 14 September, where the film and Sridevi's performance received a standing ovation.

Development

During the early 2011, it was reported that Sridevi would make a comeback with a film to be directed by ad filmmaker Gauri Shinde and produced by Gauri's husband R. Balki. It was said that Sridevi will play the protagonist and will be play the role of a lady speaking English and the hilarious sequences that takes place in the process to learn the language forms the rest of the story.Amitabh Bachchan is playing a cameo in the film and he shot with us for a day".

Owing to Sridevi's comeback after more than a decade, the film garnered much media excitement. Amitabh's cameo, music by Amit Trivedi and Balki's track record have further added to the interest in the film. The film rights have been bought by Eros International for a sum for Rs. 20 crore owing to Sridevi's continuing popularity and superstar status.

The film marks the Bollywood debut of actress Priya Anand, whose previous work is in the Tamil and Telugu cinemas. It is also the directorial debut of Gauri Shinde and has been shot mostly in New York. Balki also clarified that, other than Sridevi all the actors in the film will be new. The principal photography concluded in October and the film will also be dubbed and released in Tamil andTelugu.

Critical reception

Shresht Poddar, of Score Magazine, gave the album 4 out of 5 stars saying, "I can happily say that Amit Trivedi has composed an excellent album befitting Sridevi’s comeback venture. Despite lacking an out-and-out commercial track, the album manages to hold itself well - especially thanks to Swanand Kirkire’s amazing lyrics." Karthik from Milliblog has aptly said it is a "Competent vompetent soundtrack from Amit Trivedi." Digiblog gave it a very high score of 8 out of 10 saying "This one is a gem vem from Amit Trivedi. Ranbir Kapoor reportedly plays the role of a deaf-mute Nepali origin boy. Priyanka Chopra will play the role of girl with autism. In addition, Ileana D'Cruz will play the role of the narrator. Basu confirmed that Katrina Kaif was the first choice for the role of the narrator, but she later opted out. The film began shooting on 11 March 2011

Music

The music and background score of the film is composed by Pritam. The soundtrack album has 6 songs. A song named Ala Barfi! sung by Mohit Chauhan was released as a single track on 7th August 2012.. Main kya karoon, a romantic number was released on 11th August 2012 which features Ileana D'Cruz & Ranbir Kapoor. Priyanka Chopra was supposed to sing a track for the film but her contract with Universal Musicprevents her from taking the offer. There is also one more song titled Fatafati which will not be used in the final film, but was released on YouTube on 10th September 2012, as behind-the-scenes footage. It is merely a promotional track, sung by Pritam and Nakkash Aziz. Some additional vocals are sung by Ranbir Kapoor himself. Fatafati also has some Bengali lyrics, penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The song isn't in the actual album either, but it has become a major hit on YouTube, crossing 100,000 views in just 4 days.

Reception

The music album of Barfi ! received extremely positive reviews. Barfi was trending on Twitter on its launch day because of positive word of mouth.Lyricsmint gave the album a rating of 4/5 saying "The album is sweet, positive, lovely, mischievous and full of life", Karthik of Milliblog gave it a 200 words review saying "Much like his earlier combo with Anurag Basu in Life in a Metro, Pritam delivers a whopper, again!". Darshit at DunkDaft also gave a positive review saying "The hit maker is hitting the right spots again and again this year. This Barfi is absolutely high on taste that you can't resist." Music Aloud's review called it Pritam's best soundtrack in a long time, giving it a 9/10.Gokul of IndiBeats! gave the album a rating of 4/5 saying "Pritam has outdone himself again in the album which shows the true talent and dedication of the composer."
